Time to tour you through our last Minted Interiors Coast Project room - a simple and sweet one - the Office.

When my client's first bought this home, this space was an extended part of the upstairs living/lounge zone. Before renovations started, this zone felt very oversized and made an awkward L shape.

To combat this issue a wall was installed, giving the home a much needed office, reducing the footprint of the oversized Adult's Entertaining + Lounge zone and turning each space into a function size and shape. You can see more of that space in a previous blog post here.

Although the new wall was required to create an office and make best use of each zone, it was important to maximise the interaction between the spaces and to ensure anyone working in the office, could also take in the ocean view. These bi-fold shutters were a perfect choice to open the divide between the rooms when desired and to allow privacy at other times. They also have a great 'beach house' vibe which was perfect for the coastal style of this brief.

Custom joinery and a concrete work bench create a contemporary tone and along with ceiling height cupboards on the adjacent wall, deliver on practical storage space. By selecting timber, hemp, rattan and linen I was able to create a natural earthiness in this room to build on those laid back beach vibes.

These earthy materials are so synonymous with coastal styles and when you pair them with metallics like brass, it's easy to propel your coastal aesthetic into a luxurious beachside retreat. The brass planter and brass tambourine by Amigos De Hoy help to achieve this and also bring a bohemian and eclectic feeling to the space, which was important for the boho element of this brief.
